The Message of the Marigold Angels
A few years ago, I began experiencing an angelic presence that I have come to know as the Marigold angels. The smell was the musky odor of a marigold flower. The unfolding pattern that I am about to describe went on for several months. This consistent recurrence became part of my training in the power of observation and sensitivity to the voice of God. God was very intent in this training so that I might uncover the message that lay inside my visitation of these angelic creatures. It is important to note that the encounters began during a season in my life which was marked by profound spiritual aloneness. It seemed that God was placing me on a trajectory of training in the spiritual realms of hearing His voice and encountering Him in supernatural ways then unknown to me. Oftentimes, aloneness and loneliness are part of the training equation. If you are undergoing this kind of training – Hold Fast! The rains will come in due time. This season was an intense and exciting time of discovery with the Lord, but it was marked on all sides by misunderstanding and relational challenges.
Remember as you read on, that the way I came to observe the presence of these fragrant angels, was by continued observation and inquiry with God over the course of many months. The pattern of the angelic visitation was as follows: First would come the pungent aroma of a marigold flower and then within minutes, the rains would come. This was consistently the pattern, so much so that I began to write about it and research the qualities of the marigold in the garden. Being an avid gardener myself, the revelatory insight came fairly quickly. Marigold flowers bear a couple of outstanding qualities. First, they are able to last longer in the garden without water. In other words, they have a “persevering” quality that helps them to bear up under dry conditions. Second, they have a pungent and musky odor that repels insects. One might say that they are a “guardian” flower and have the ability to watch over the health of the garden. It must be noted that the smell came first and then the rains followed. Or to hear it another way…. The promise and invitation came first and then the unveiling of Gods heart and intent with full revelatory understanding and the peace that the promise He was making would be fulfilled.
And then came the crowning revelation regarding these flowers. One day the Lord asked me, “What is the name of the flower angels that you have been smelling?” To which I said, “Marigolds”. The Lord said “Yes – Marry Gold, do you hear what I am saying to you?” Stunned, I realized that what the Lord was pointing out was that the angels own name bore an invitation and an exhortation. God was saying, “Marry Gold. Marry Me”. My mind began to run through the scriptures beginning with the fact that the Lord calls those who have committed their lives to Him by faith in what His Son has done on the cross as “His Bride”. The Bride of Christ imagery is all over the Word of God. Hidden in places like the book of Hosea, Song of Solomon, Ephesians and the Book of Revelation just to name a few.
Further pondering and now after years of consideration about these encounters I am reminded again and again to “Marry Gold. Marry the Lord”. This process is a continual rehearsal of devotion to the Lord as having first place in my heart. And also, for anyone who chooses to walk this road with Him. We do well to recall that rehearsals and remembrances of what God has said and done must be a part of the journey of faith.
It has been about 30 years since I first began smelling the marigolds but recently in February of this year 2021 – I have begun smelling the marigolds again. I have waited a long time to publish this experience. The recent visitation of the marigolds I believe is the Lord telling me that it is time to share this publicly with those who might read my words.
My message for anyone reading this article is that the Lords heart for you, male or female is to become the Lords betrothed. Betrothal is the pledge of a future union. God wants all men and women to return to Union with their Heavenly Father. God has a sense of humor, doesn’t He? As woman we consider that one day, we might be a bride, but men don’t include this in their future dreams about themselves. But both male and female will one day, if they choose a relationship with God, will all be called ‘The Bride of Christ’. And so, the message of the marigolds is this – Marry Gold. Marry Me. Marry the Lord in your Heart. Place Him First and you will never be disappointed. Persevere! The rains will come. He will bring the rains of refreshing to your soul. Hope will return. And He will guard the garden of your heart and soul in the process if you let Him. He is faithful. He will keep His promise. He is the Bridegroom of Heaven for anyone who says ‘Yes’.
